Committees


In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees:

Administration The Committee on Administration is responsible for providing the most effective club meeting possible. Areas of focus should include the club meeting program, physical, reception, fellowship, and inter-club relations, as well as other areas that the committee may deem pertinent.

Club Memorial Board The Club will maintain a Memorial Board in the West Cobb Senior Center Lakeview Room to honor deceased members. For a deceased Kiwanian's name to be placed on our Memorial Board they should be at the time of death, an active, honorary, or senior member in good standing as determined by the Club Secretary. However, if before death, they left the Club while in good standing because of severe illness, they may be recognized after review and approval of the Committee on Human and Spiritual Values.
Community Services The Committee on Community Service should implement projects on the arts, business affairs, citizenship, civic improvement, committee beautification, conservation, health, international understanding, literacy, public affairs, safety, or help for senior citizen and disabled persons. Popular projects include Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Library Book Sales, support "Thanks for Giving" Program, Sweetwater Mission, (provide services, food, clothing, etc.,) Adopt-A-Mile, Kiwanis One Day, USO support.
Finance/Budget As the Committee of Finance/Budget, the President-Elect will appoint the Budget Committee by August 1. The Budget Committee shall prepare a budget for the next fiscal year, incorporating input for committee Chairs and others as deemed appropriate. The Budget Committee will submit a proposed budget for the Administrative Account and another for the Service Account. The committee should make every effort to offer a budget that will maintain an appropriate reserve for the Administrative Account and an appropriate reserve for the Service Account.
Fundraising The Fundraising Committee is responsible for coordinating most of the fundraising functions of the club. The Committee should be innovative in devising fundraising projects. There may be other committees with responsibilities for different fundraising projects.
Human and Spiritual Values The Committee on Human and Spiritual Values should support spiritual development, provide human companionship and comfort, or offer counseling and guidance. Project can encourage interfaith and interdenominational religious activity, such as prayer, but should not support a specific religions sect. Activities include: arrange for presentation of the invocation at each meeting as deemed appropriate, identified members who are ill, or have family illness and report to the club send cards, notes and condolences, inform members of funeral arrangements for deceased members, purchase appropriate memorial for a decreased member (the limit of $75,) plan and conduct the Annual Prayer Breakfast, maintain a Memorial Board to honor deceased members.
Interclub Interclub will be responsible for scheduling Interclub meetings with other Clubs in the Division 15
Liability/Safety Coordinator Reviews the club activities for liability exposure. If any exposure is identified, makes a report to the President and the Board of Directors.
Membership Growth and Retention The Committee on Membership Growth & Retention strives to increase membership according to the standards provided in the bylaws. The committee should consider all Membership Information Forms and submit its recommendations to the board of directors. The committee should also develop an effective orientation and induction ceremony for new members and promote regular attendance by all members at club meetings.
Nominating Committee The Committee of the Nomination will commerce deliberations at the call of the President to identify potential Officers and Directors candidates for positions to be filled at the annual meeting. Identify potential candidates, considering their administrative, organizational and leadership abilities. Also review the candidates' involvement as Committee Chairs and participation in club projects.
Programs The Committee on Programs Planning is a small group of event planning minds who can look at our weekly meetings from a member(s) perceptive as well as from the perspectives of prospective members and our leaders. The committee is responsible for arranging a high responsible for planning and coordinating the programs for each meeting throughout the year. The overall objective is to improve our image and appeal to members and visitors, some of who may be prospective members. Our reputation for interesting programs should help us attract visitors and build membership. It is our aim to provide a balanced variety of presentations while also assuring an orderly management of numerous business and ceremonial obligations of the Club. Following are the categories identified: Club's business and activities, seasonal and ceremonial, holiday closing entertainment, cultural, historical and patriotic, science and technology, local business and government, human and spiritual, other club; West Cobb Business Association, Rotary, etc. Predetermined programs: Holidays, Club business and traditional events are scheduled when needed throughout each fiscal year. These must be inserted onto the master schedule at the beginning of the year in order to avoid conflict with invited speakers. Some of these are: elementary school singers, NJROTC from Kennesaw Mountain High School, Annual Club Recognitions, Thanksgivings Holiday, New Year Holiday, Christmas Holiday, Prayer Breakfast and Club Business meeting.
Public Relations and Marketing The Committee for Public Relations is responsible for public awareness of club activities by sending information to local newspapers, District office, KI and other media sources as appropriate. In addition, this committee is responsibly for nurturing relationships with other clubs and entitles in all corners of the community. The major goal of a Marketing strategy is to increase public awareness for and understanding of the Lost Mountain Kiwanis organization. 1. This can be achieved through public relations efforts including newspaper articles, photographs and signage in appropriate locations. 2. Participation in community events (fairs, expos, school gatherings) 3. Specifically designed membership outreach 4. Education of the broader community in relation to Kiwanis as an organization. 5. EVERY MEMBER OF LOST MOUNTAIN IS A MEMBER OF THE MARKETING TEAM!
Scholarship The Committee of Scholarship will send a letter to school advisers requested nominations be submitted by March of each year. The letter will indicate the amount of the scholarships and request the following information: Name of Nomination, Key Club participation and service, GPA, college or university the recipient will attend. The committee chairperson will follow up with the school advisory to set a time for the presentation and picture. The committee chair will notify the Program Planning Committee of the date so that no guest speakers will be scheduled at the same time. In the event a scholarship is not giving to be used by one of our Key Clubs, another deserving individual from one of our other existing Key Clubs may receive the unused scholarship, This decision is the responsibility of the Scholarship Committee.
Special Events Including the following events: Installation Dinner, Officers and Directors' Training, Picnics, Prayer Breakfast, Events Refreshments
Sponsored Leadership Program (SLPs) The Committee on Sponsored Youth shall devise ways and means to establish and support K-Kids Clubs, Building Clubs, Key Clubs, Circle K Clubs and Aktion Club, and should encourage and promote the activities of all Clubs sponsored by our Club. The committee should include the Kiwanis Club advisors to the sponsored clubs. Functions of the this committee include: provide guidance and leadership to Key Clubs, Building Club and K-Kids Clubs, attend sponsored youth clubs, give guidance to the sponsored youth in areas of leadership, organization, administration, goal setting, action plans, community service, conduct meeting, membership growth, sponsored youth club's district and international organization, finances, Kiwanis values, encourage attendance at District training conventions, international conventions, rallies, encourage visits to our Kiwanis meetings, encourage Kiwanis members to attend sponsored youth meetings. Encourage attendance at Key Leader training, support the sponsored youth club financially.
Technology The Committee of Technology is in charge of creating, maintaining and repairing in the area of informational technology. In particular, that includes our website, Facebook, Twitter and other aspects.
Young Children/Priority One The Committee of Young Children/Priority One should implement projects for children prenatal through five years. Projects can address material and child health, child care, early development, nutrition, parenting education and support, advocacy, pediatric trauma or safety. Popular projects include the Fragile Children's Christmas Program, hospital maternity tours, encouraging literacy, distributing the home-safety checklist, building and repairing playgrounds.
Youth Services The Committee on Youth Services is responsible for projects that address the school-aged youth. Projects can address character education, club activities, leadership development, literacy and mentoring. Popular projects include sponsoring Terrific Kids, BUGS, Silver Pen contest, mentoring and support of general school activities. Other activities may involve determining ways the club can help boys and girls adjust to their environment. Interface with local Boys /Girls Clubs may also be under this committee.
